Two major US organizations for civil rights, Human Rights Watch and American Civil Liberties Union, are underlining with many initiatives how the new political guidelines and actions of the Trump administration (for instance the widely known Presidential order on immigration) are putting at risk privacy rights in the US for non-US citizens and, at the same time, somehow for US citizens as well.
An open letter to the EU Commission clearly denounces that the privacy shield could go through relevant problems in its current shape and require a new negotiation session with the Trump Administration, while EU citizens rights won’t be ensured anymore in the meantime.
Private Data Protection is clearly becoming a global political issue when walls are built on national borders and hackers are a weapon to softly attack other’s democracies.
Disregard these trends may be really a risk for the rights of each one of us but perhaps also for something even more relevant.
